The MG Comet EV was spotted multiple times while testing on roads and now the carmaker has finally launched it in India today. It is a small car that is 2,974 mm long, 1,505 mm wide, and 1,640 tall. It comes with a wheelbase of 2,010 mm and has a turning radius of 4.2 meters.
The MG Comet mini electric car is available in 3 monotone color options Candy White, Starry Black, and Aurora Silver. It also comes in two dual-tone color options Candy white with starry black and Apple Green with Starry Black. Body graphics and stickers are options given to each individual buyer. Although it does not have any direct competitors, but the Citroen eC3 and Tata Tiago EV can affect the sales of the MG Comet EV.
MG Comet EV exterior
The front fascia of the two-door MG Comet EV is compact and has large bumpers. Under the windscreen, it gets a wraparound strip with LED lighting elements, streamlined headlamps, and square taillamps with an LED bar. It gets wider doors and a second, vertically-positionable rear window for passengers, though this window will be small lacking a back door. The MG Comet EV comes with 12-inch steel wheels and a 145/70 tyre size.
At the rear, it gets ‘Comet’ lettering in the center of the deck lid along with ‘Internet Inside’ and ‘EV’ badging on the right and left side of the booth respectively.
Braking duties are handled by a disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear while the suspension setup includes a McPherson strut at the front and multi-link coil suspension at the rear.

MG Comet EV interior
The new MG Comet mini electric car comes with all necessary driver and passenger comforts. Inside the car, it gets advanced features and an infotainment system along with a list of safety equipments. It gets 10.25-inch infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster which features MG connected car tech with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets over 55 connected car features like weather updates, turn-by-turn navigation along with real time traffic updates, music, etc.
It comes with two spoke steering wheel with steering-mounted controls, manual air conditioning, keyless entry, digital key, push-button start, and many other features. The rear seat can be folded in 50:50 split.
For safety, it gets dual airbags, rear parking sensors with camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, tire pressure monitoring system, EBD, and ABS.
MG Comet EV range, battery and charging option
The new MG Comet EV’s electric motor produces a max power of 42 hp and peak torque of 110 Nm and comes with 17.3 kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 230 km.
MG’s new small electric car takes 5 hours to charge from 10% to 80% via a 3.3 kW charger and it takes 7 hours to hit 100% charging.
MG Comet EV price in India
The ex-showroom price of the new MG Comet EV starts from Rs 7.98 lakh which makes it the most affordable electric car in India. Bookings of the car will be starts from 15th May 2023 and the deliveries will begin soon after that. As of now the test drive of the new small electric car is available at the company’s dealerships in select cities.
