Royal Enfield currently has a lot on its mind in keeping with its four motorcycles each year strategy. The Chennai-based bike maker is planning to launch new Bullet 350, Himalayan 450, Scrambler 450, Himalayan 650, Scram 650, Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, and some other bikes.
The bike maker has recently launched the Super Meteor 650, updated Interceptor 650 and 650 GT. Now the brand is expanding its 650cc portfolio with the upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. In 2022, multiple test mules of the upcoming 650 Shotgun were spotted testing, but they started to appear less frequently after that. Now the production-ready version of the upcoming Shotgun 650 was spotted testing on the road.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 spotted
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 was first showcased as a concept bike at the EICMA 2021 show ever since it has become one of the most awaited motorcycle of the brand. The attractive and muscular look of the bike grabbed a lot of eyeballs of the general public as well as the celebrities like Sung Kang who was featured in the Fast & Furious movie.
Talking about the looks, the recently spotted test mule of the bike looks identical to the concept which was showcased in EICMA 2021. Some people will say that the Shotgun 650 looks a lot like the recently launched Super Meteor 650 and that it true because it shares most of the parts with Super Meteor 650.
The upcoming RE Shotgun 650 shares its most of the parts like USD forks, rear twin shock absorbers, headlight, instrument console, and many other things.
There will be differences as a result of different characters. Despite having similar headlights, the Shotgun 650 has a unique headlamp housing built of machined aluminum, comparable to the Scram 411. Both the fuel tank and the rear end are modified. Although turn indications and tail lights on Shotgun 650 test mules are closer together than they are on Super Meteor, the tail light housings may be identical.

Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 specs and features
Shotgun 650 has an improved rider triangle since the riding position appears more comfortable. The test mule has alloy wheels; unlike the Super Meteor, the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 won’t have 19″ front and 16″ rear wheels. Royal Enfield is probably going to provide a single-seat variant as well when it launches.
The upcoming 2023 Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 will be powered by the same 648cc parallel twin-cylinder air-oil cooled engine that produces a max power of 47 bhp and peak torque of 52 Nm. The engine is the same as the Super Meteor 650 but it will be tuned differently to suit the characteristics of the Shotgun 650. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox and it will get a slipper clutch as well.
The upcoming 650cc Shotgun is expected to get features like a USB socket, Bluetooth connectivity, and GPS, turn-by-turn navigation, etc. The upcoming Royal Enfield bike will compete with other bikes like the Benelli Leoncino 500, Kawasaki Z650RS, and other bikes in the segment.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 price and launch date
The upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650cc is expected to launch in the middle of 2023 and it is expected to be priced at around Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom).
