2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift official teaser out – launch soon

The 2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift is set for an imminent launch in India, featuring exterior and interior updates and introducing new features like a dashcam and paddle shifters.

After the successful launch of the Exter micro SUV, which garnered positive feedback from customers, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is gearing up to introduce a refreshed version of the i20 in the domestic market. The upgraded premium hatchback has been given a sneak peek for the first time, offering a glimpse of the significant changes to its front fascia.

As the second-largest car manufacturer in the country, HMIL has hinted at an imminent launch, with expectations pointing towards this happening later this month. Hyundai had previously unveiled the revamped i20 for the European market back in May 2023, and in June, an undercover test prototype of the updated i20 was seen undergoing testing on Indian roads.

What’s new in Hyundai i20 facelift

Compared to the outgoing model, the most notable alteration in the front design is the introduction of a sleeker hexagonal grille, a feature reminiscent of the Euro-spec i20. However, it’s worth noting that the black grille inserts, as revealed in the teaser, appear to be less aggressive in nature. The headlamp cluster has been refined, boasting sharper styling and improved lighting arrangements, while the Boomerang-shaped integrated LED Daytime Running Lights contribute to the overall refreshed look.

A significant move is the relocation of the Hyundai logo to the bonnet, accompanied by a more angular bumper featuring a lip spoiler-like element. Additionally, the new fog lamp housings bear a resemblance to those found in its European counterpart. The lower air intake has also undergone a redesign. Expectations are that there will be newly designed alloy wheels and subtle modifications to the rear end of the vehicle.

The 2023 Hyundai i20 will continue to compete in the market against formidable rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Tata Altroz, and Toyota Glanza. Drawing inspiration from the European i20, which now offers three new colors—Lucid Lime Metallic, Meta Blue Pearl, and Lumen Grey Pearl—we can anticipate these vibrant shades making their way to the Indian variant as well.

2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift features

In terms of features, the 2023 Hyundai i20 is set to impress with a host of technological advancements. These include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 0.25-inch digital instrument cluster, over-the-air updates, wireless charging capabilities, a premium Bose audio system, and more.

No change in the engine and performance

The engine options for the upcoming i20 facelift will remain unchanged from the previous model. Customers will have the option to select between two powerplants: the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine and the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor. The former delivers a robust performance with 83 PS of maximum power and 114.7 Nm of peak torque. Transmission choices encompass a 5-speed manual gearbox and an IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).

For those seeking more power and performance, the turbo petrol motor packs a punch, boasting 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a responsive 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (6-DCT) for seamless gear shifts and an exhilarating driving experience.
