The 2023 Hyundai i20 facelift ditches the previous turbo for a 1.2L NA petrol engine and adds visual upgrades, along with standard safety features like six airbags, ESC, HAC, and VSM.
Hyundai has launched the facelifted i20 in India. The new model gets a number of visual and functional updates, but misses out on a turbo petrol engine. The i20 facelift is available in five variants: Era, Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O). Prices start at Rs. 6.99 lakh for the base Era MT variant and go up to Rs. 11.01 lakh for the top-spec Asta (O) IVT variant.
What’s new in the 2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift
This updated hatchback showcases subtle visual enhancements both on the exterior and interior, accompanied by exciting new features and adjustments to its engine lineup.
The key visual changes on the i20 facelift include a new grille, bumper, and headlamps. The interior has also been updated with a new dashboard, instrument cluster, and seats.

Starting with the front profile, the i20 facelift boasts new LED headlights, a fresh grille design, and a revised bumper design. Hyundai has repositioned its logo to the bonnet, eliminating it from the grille, and fog lamps have been omitted.
Moving on to the side profile, you’ll notice newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels and black cladding on the lower half of the body. At the rear, there’s a new bumper featuring a faux skid plate and additional cladding. This rugged makeover on a hatchback might appear somewhat unconventional and brings to mind the i20 Active variant.
The i20 facelift offers a range of captivating color choices, including Amazon Grey (a new addition), Atlas White, Titan Gray, Typhoon Silver, Starry Night, Fiery Red, Atlas White with a Black Roof, and Fiery Red with a Black Roof.
The interior remains largely unchanged, except for the introduction of a new grey and black color theme. These lighter color tones might create a perception of more spaciousness compared to the all-black interior of the previous model. Additionally, a new flat-bottom steering wheel is now available.
Exciting new features include ambient lighting, puddle lamps with a welcome function, Hyundai’s ‘Sounds of Nature’ feature, a type-C charger, and a premium 7-speaker Bose audio system, among others.
The infotainment system retains its previous 10.25-inch touchscreen display and offers an extensive range of features, including over 60 connected car functions, 127 Embedded VR commands, 52 Hinglish voice commands, Over-the-Air updates, and Multilanguage UI support accommodating 10 Regional and 2 International languages.
In terms of safety, the i20 facelift comes equipped with a comprehensive set of standard features, including 6 Airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Antilock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brake Distribution (BD). Additional safety technologies comprise a Burglar alarm, Emergency stop signal, rear parking camera, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and Automatic headlamps with a headlamp escort function.
Notably, the Hyundai i20 facelift is now exclusively available with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Kappa petrol engine, generating 83 HP with the manual transmission and 88 HP with the CVT automatic. Both powertrains deliver 115 Nm of torque.
It’s worth mentioning that Hyundai has discontinued the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine for the i20. It’s believed that this engine has been reserved for the upcoming performance-oriented i20 N Line, set to be launched in its facelifted version in the near future.
